7 Days of Garbage

Global pollution problem! We all know what's going on right? but hardly anyone realizes just how much trash we produce daily. Gregg Segal, a photographer from California, aims to show this problem through powerful imagery, photographing people lying in their weekly load of trash. His ongoing project called “7 Days of Garbage” tries to portray people from different social backgrounds to reach largest audience possible .

Segal decided to photograph the participants in front of naturalistic backgrounds to show that the garbage produced by us is effecting it directly. “Obviously, the series is guiding people toward a confrontation with the excess that’s part of their lives. 

"I’m hoping they recognize a lot of the garbage they produce is unnecessary".

Tear Gas Flower Grenades

A Palestinian woman in the village of Bilin, near Ramallah, has planted a garden full 
of flowers grown inside of spent tear-gas grenades collected from clashes between 
Israeli soldiers and local Palestinians…

 

Strange Party Balloons

Resembling sea slugs, coral, or strange party balloons, these are the works of
Charlotte Nash who's final degree show in Sculpture at ECA was bizarre and wonderful.

Intimate Portraits

Photographer Mark Nixon Has captured some "intimate portraits". For his book Project 
Much Loved he captured portraits of cherished stuffed animals that have been ripped apart 
and bruised after years of play and snuggles. 
It seems very sad at first, but the more tattered the plush possession, the more loved it was. 
It’s not easy being a teddy bear! 

 

Tran Nguyen

“ I find interest in illustrating the universal emotions we come across in 
everyday living emotions that are tucked away, deep inside our psyches.”

Tran Nguyen is a Georgia-based artist. Born in Vietnam and raised in the States. 

She is fascinated with creating visuals that can be used as a psycho-therapeutic 

support vehicle, exploring the mind's dreamscape. Her paintings are created with a 

soft, delicate quality using colored pencil and thin glazes of diluted acrylic on paper.

Tran’s oeuvre has been exhibited with galleries in New York, Los Angeles, Miami.

Love | Fear | Anguish

Alexandra Levasseur believes that women still remain the symbol for the expression 

of universal emotions such as love, fear, anguish and unrequited desire which are the 

central themes for her art. Levasseur explores both, the loneliness and the bipolarity 
of the human state of existence through the representation of memories.

“I’m looking for relations between the comfort of the body and the quietness of 

the spirit and how the surrounding environment can affect states of mind. 

This has pushed me to further my thoughts on the idea of relationships 

as the basic component of all that exists and the life itself.”

Wearable Landscape

It’s not uncommon to see photographs printed onto clothing, but 
Milan-based Marios‘  takes it to a whole new level. 
Many of the pieces in the collection feature landscape photographs 
printed across the entire garment.
